A free show featuring two of Canada's finest up-and-coming acoustic guitarists: Kyle Pullan of Canmore Alberta and Joel Saunders of Toronto Ontario
Kyle Pullan: Kyle started playing guitar at 13, jumping right into lead guitar in local Metal bands. Fast forward to 2013, Kyle moved from Newmarket to Canmore, Alberta. Lacking the heavy music scene in the folky roots mountain town, he hung up his electric guitar and grabbed his acoustic. That's when he found fingerstyle. As a life long lover of instrumental music and adapting to becoming a solo artist, he locked himself in his room and practiced! Kyle takes his strong melodies, Bass lines and percussion to deliver power instrumental soundscapes. Kyle Released hisEP "Metal Edges" in 2016 and his debut full length album "Into the Wild" in 2017 on his fall tour through Alberta and British Columbia. On his return he placed 1st in the Banff Battle of the Bands, first solo artist to ever do so. Kyle now spends time in Ontario playing for new crowds and sharing his music!
Joel Saunders: Joel started playing guitar at the age of five. Growing up in small town Ontario, Joel became active member of the local music community at a young age as a multi-instrumentalist and sound technician. Joel received two music scholarships and chose to study music and jazz guitar at the University of Guelph. Since then Joel has performed in genres ranging from jazz, free jazz, rock, choir, classical, pop, folk, and blues. Joel’s sound comes from his mix of funky acoustic singer songwriter, jazzy-blues electric guitar, and upbeat instrumental acoustic fingerstyle guitar.
In 2016 and 2017 Joel competed in the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition against competitors from across the globe and placed 4th and 3rd respectively. Joel released his debut album 'Where You Go' in 2017 which is a mix of upbeat and jazzy singer/songwriter and instrumental fingerstyle guitar. Joel now resides in Toronto where he teaches and performs regularly.
